March 12 - 14 2010 da Vinci Film Festival Where: Darkside Cinema - Corvallis, Oregon When: Friday | Saturday | Sunday
Independent Films for Independent Minds!
Launched in 1999, the da Vinci Film Festival began as part of the summer celebration of art, science, and technology, da Vinci Days. The original, a screening of animated films during the summer festival, has evolved into an established and well-attended annual celebration of independent film. Still a program of da Vinci Days, da Vinci Film Festival is now held in the spring, bringing audiences a variety of independent films from around the world, in several genres.
We feature films from the Fast Film Project (link to Fast Film Project info page), a 48 hour flurry of filmmaking the month prior to the Film Festival. Individuals or film teams register for the FFP and have 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and submit a short film, incorporating a line of dialogue received at registration.
This year we will host 10+ visiting filmmakers from local young filmmakers to those from around the country. When available, filmmakers will be introduced after their film is shown for a brief Q&A. A Filmmakers Forum will take place Saturday, March 13. Attendees will learn more about what inspired the filmmakers and what is involved in making indpendent film.

March 21 - 21 The Daffodil Drive Festival Where: Ferguson Road in Junction City, Oregon When: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday & Sunday
Welcome to Junction City's "official" celebration of spring: the Daffodil Drive Festival, sponsored by the Long Tom Grange, Junction City Oregon!
For 28 years, residents on Ferguson Road in Junction City have planted daffodils in long golden rows along the roadside, their numbers increasing with each passing year. For almost as many years, the third Sunday in March, visitors from Springfield to Monroe and Harrisburg have celebrated spring by taking the "Daffodil Drive" along the eight-mile stretch and stopping by Long Tom Grange where the members served homemade cinnamon rolls with coffee and punch, decorated the Grange Hall with flowers and hand-made quilts, and raffled off a daffodil quilt.
Each year the third weekend in March thousands of visitors from Eugene, Springfield, Corvallis, and beyond flock to Ferguson Road in Junction City to view mile after county mile of golden daffodils and enjoy a day of family activities. Over the years the festival has grown from one day to two, adding new features each year.
Free entertainment, a classic car display, wagon rides, art show, cinnamon rolls, quilt displays, craft booths, and of course, all the daffodils are just a few of the things that draw people of all ages.
