Trudy Bauchery produces and performs in risqué variety shows. Striving to bring an innovative flame to the resurgence of renegade vaudeville, she creates original skits, props and costumes. She includes talented performers ranging from tried and true luminaries, bizarre underground treasures and “newbies” with great potential. She assembles an animated cast aimed at tweaking the funny bone and tickling the mind.
Trudy’s charming stage presence brings her characters to life. She creates witty short skits in true vaudeville style, with humorous twists and surprises. She has many characters up her sleeve. She’s a damsel in distress, a discombobulated cowboy, a baby no bigger than a breadbox, a voluptuous lady with removable parts, a seven foot tall egg-laying bird and more. There is always a new creation in the works. Trudy enjoys the challenge of coming up with new acts catered to each show.

Literal brothers, Alex (banjo and vocals) and Ben Morrison (guitar and vocals) of The Brothers Comatose grew up in a house that was known for its music parties. “The Morrison house was a gathering place for local musicians – everyone would bring an instrument, call out tunes, call out changes, and just play for hours” says Brothers Comatose bassist and Morrison music party goer, Gio Benedetti. “I learned more in that living room than in any class I ever took.” The brothers took this generous, inclusive and rowdy attitude and brought it to stages all over San Francisco. With the addition of members Philip Brezina (fiddle) and Ryan Avellone (mandolin) the string quintet brings their original string music and the feel of an intimate music party to audiences all across the United States.
The environment the band creates with their music and their live shows isn't the exclusive band vs. crowd world of rock and pop, but rather the sing-along, stomp-along, inclusive world that gave birth to string band music. The band – while playing festivals like Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Strawberry, High Sierra, Outside Lands, Kate Wolf, and SXSW, - has not lost sight of their roots, their fans and the relationships that have brought them where they are.

How does one describe the sound of something? The energy and feel of a performance that you may not have seen yet? Well, let's start here: Think 20th century. Think Steinbeck, industrial print presses, and Jack the Ripper. Imagine a hint of 20’s flare with a light dusting of the blues. Think sleeping out under the stars, traveling fairs and carnivals, wax seals, and ribbons. That begins to set the tone for Troupe Carnivàle’s debut album, "Skaal Krush".
Jackie Jae and Jason Cowsill have clearly drawn from some diverse stylistic elements in writing "Skaal Krush"; mixing folk with the blues and a unique blend of carnival-esque interpretations of alt-country, they’ve created a subversive, somewhat anti-Nashville vibe that’s altogether addictive. But don’t assume this album is a throwback to bygone eras. While many of the songs seem retrogressive, it’s very much part of the here and now.
Listen to it with a glass of wine and the lights low. Listen to it while driving through the rain. Put it on an old stereo and absorb it through a pair of headphones. And then listen to your instinct that says, "Listen to it again."

A traveler, a dreamer, and a banjo pickin’ sweetheart from Arkansas, Kendl Winter sprouts alfalfa beans in mason jars in the back of her tour van and spreads her songs across the country Johnny Appleseed style. Her voice is beautifully unique and bold, and her songs are thoughtfully poetic and rooted deep within her experience. Previously of the Blackberry Bushes String band, she has branched off and out and her solo work is even more captivating and mesmerizing. Stemming from an old-time and bluegrass bend, she’s joined by her band the Summer Gold for a little Olympia twist on those familiar sounds.

One has perfect pitch. One has perfect dimples. Together, they make the perfect pair. The Lovebirds are a folk/pop duo featuring award-winning San Diego songwriters Lindsay White and Veronica May. Falling somewhere on the female duo scale between The Indigo Girls and Tegan and Sara, The Lovebirds have shared the stage with many other humans that make music, such as Steve Poltz, Tristan Prettyman, Bushwalla, The Lumineers, Jack Tempchin, John C. Reilly, Glen Phillips, Sara Watkins, Susanna Hoffs, Berkley Hart, Raining Jane, Jason Mraz, and more. Recorded at Berkley Sound, The Lovebirds’ sophomore album “and a one, and a two” is the mischievous step-brother of their SDMA-nominated debut “Nutsy Pants,” and is willing to compete for attention.
Caution: a live performance by The Lovebirds is a tornado of sights and sounds which may include short skirts, high heels, bowties, mustaches, percussive guitar, rock ukulele, glockenspiel, melodica, kazoos, stand-up drumkits, and harmonies that won’t quit. Join the flock, already.
