Cited by jazz guitar legend Les Paul as one of the top five guitarists of all time, Vignola has toured and recorded with Bucky Pizzarelli, Les Paul, Lionel Hampton, Donald Fagen, Queen Latifah, Ringo Starr, Madonna, David Grisman, and Mark O'Connor.

In the early '50s, he scored a series of major hits that made him one of the most popular recording artists of the time. In the early '60s, he mounted a comeback as more of an adult-album seller. And from the mid-'80s on, he achieved renewed popularity with generations of listeners who hadn't been born when he first appeared.

2013 Oregon Bach Festival

June 24-July 14 - Eugene, Portland, and five other cities

The 2013 event June 24-July 14 celebrates Helmuth Rilling’s 80th birthday and honors his 44th and concluding season as artistic director.

Rilling, who turns 80 on May 29, conducts Beethoven’s monumental Missa Solemnis as the opening concert, Bach’s St John Passion in four lecture-demonstrations and a full concert, and Bach’s B Minor Mass in Portland and Eugene as the Festival finale.

Carrie Rodriguez

Austin, Texas-based fiddler/singer/songwriter Carrie Rodriguez blows the lid off with her fifth album,

Give Me All You Got, her first release of largely original tunes in years. “I’m laying out some extreme emotional highs and lows,” she says. “Take ‘Brooklyn.’ It’s very autobiographical, and I remember thinking, would I really want to share this? I decided, of course, why hold this back?”

Madeleine Peyroux
