The Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA) Center burst onto the Eugene visual arts scene late in 2003 as a non-profit membership and donor supported Center. With a stylish, festive ambience that mirrors its logo, DIVA awakened high interest and expectations among frequenters of downtown Eugene.
A highly energized collaboration of volunteers has realized incredible success with the opening of a six gallery exhibit spaces and a 60 seat screening room on the corner of Broadway and Olive.
With cutting edge programming that included exhibits, film screenings, artist services and innovative art education opportunities, we bring over 1,200 visitors through our doors each month. Since we opened, we have exhibited the work of over 900 artists, screened hundreds of films and offered classes from screenwriting to figure drawing.
We have been an articulate and influential voice for the arts in downtown Eugene, bringing together artists, business leaders, and civic leaders toward creating downtown Eugene as a destination for the visual arts.
The result of phenomenal volunteer energy and dedication, DIVA has gained attention and support through its highly visible downtown location, dedicated steering committee, broad range of programs, exhibits, and media arts screenings and performances. It promotes the talent of artists and public appreciation of the arts by scheduling a diversity of workshops, classes, and special arts related presentations and programming that advances its mission as a multi-use visual arts center.
DIVA seeks to collaborate with other arts organizations such as the University of Oregon, Maude Kerns Art Center, and the Jacobs Gallery in scheduling a diversity of programming.
